Nice to meet you.

Hi, I’m Stacey—artist, designer, mom, wife, and a true “Jill of all trades.” For over 30 years, I’ve been creating work that blends authenticity, thoughtful craftsmanship, and refined simplicity—whether through sculpture, painting, pottery, or jewelry.

I hold an MFA from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville and a BFA from the University of Kentucky. My work has been featured in many local, regional, and national exhibitions and publications. I’ve also had the chance to mentor and teach as an adjunct faculty at UK, EKU, Georgetown College, and BCTC. Alongside creating, I’ve served as a gallery director, juror, public speaker, and teacher in schools and community art programs throughout Kentucky.

Before launching Lil Crow, I owned and operated MADEky, a working studio and gallery in downtown Lexington’s Historic Distillery District. I’ve also worked as a graphic designer for several large-scale manufacturing companies and now continue that work on a freelance basis.

These days, my time is focused on the Lil Crow brand and creating small-batch, intentionally made pieces. I believe in handcrafting work that feels grounded, soulful, and meant to be used and loved. Behind the scenes, I’m lucky to have the support of my husband, Steve—who I reconnected with after more than 30 years. He runs Sip Sip Olé, a tequila review brand, and when he’s not busy tasting, writing (or tasting some more), he’s helping with the marketing, packing, shipping, and heavy lifting that keeps Lil Crow moving.

About the work itself. . .

Each piece I create is rooted in the honesty of materials, guided by intentional making, and shaped with a sense of curiosity and quiet beauty. From the clay I choose to the glaze I brush by hand, everything is made slowly and carefully—meant to be used, worn, and cherished.

I primarily work with porcelain and stoneware. Porcelain is known for its strength and smooth, refined surface. I often layer black and white porcelain on the wheel, using a technique inspired by mokume-gane, to create a marbled finish. Stoneware brings warmth and texture, with natural earth tones and a grounded, rustic feel. All glazes are lead-free and food-safe. Many pieces are only partially glazed, allowing the raw clay to speak for itself.

Because each piece is handmade, slight variations and imperfections are expected—and part of the charm. No two are exactly alike. I don’t mass-produce or rush the process. Each item is made one at a time, shaped in quiet conversation with the clay as it moves and responds. My work isn’t about perfection—it’s about presence, process, and letting each piece become what it wants to be. Some are bold, others subtle. Like people around a table, every piece brings its own personality—and together, they tell a story of individuality and craft.

Take CARE

Though my pottery is microwave safe, please use caution—contents can get extremely hot. Avoid direct heat sources like stovetops or open flames. For best results and a longer life, I recommend hand-washing, especially with pieces that have unglazed bases. With a little care, your piece will continue to bring beauty and joy for years to come.

Jewelry & Custom Options

My wearable pieces combine ceramics with genuine leather, glass, wood, and natural stones. All metal findings are nickel-free and hypoallergenic. If you prefer precious metals like sterling silver or gold, I’m happy to create something custom—just reach out and let’s bring your idea to life.
